What made the DS line of Meade a product for intermediate star gazers is the required collimation every time the product is used. Although out of the box it can be used, adjustments has to be made to make sure it provides the expected view of the planets, the stars and the moon. DS is also like most reflectors as it needs constant cleaning through the defogger. But these requirements are nothing to intermediate users as they have to compromise to have a better view of the night sky.
